Florence Freedom Professional Baseball

John Leahy is entering his sixth season of broadcasting professional baseball and his first with the Florence Freedom. John comes to the Freedom from the Kalamazoo Kings, where he broadcasted in the 2008 and 2009 seasons. While with the Kings, he reached the Frontier League championship series in 2008 and then the division series in 2009. Prior to his time in Kalamazoo, John was the play-by-play voice of the now defunct North Shore Spirit (Lynn, MA.) of the Can-Am League from 2005 to 2007. He reached the playoffs in 2006 and 2007 with the Spirit, including the Can-Am championship series in 2007.

In the off season, John is the play-by-play voice of the Merrimack Warriors Division I college ice hocky team (North Andover, MA). He has been the voice of Merrimack hockey since 2005. John made his first Hockey East playoff appearance as a broadcaster in the winter of the 2009-10 season, calling their first round series loss to Boston University.

In the off season, John lives in the Boston, Massachusetts area with his wife Lori Ann. His new book, "Living a King's Life," his first publication, is due out before the end of 2010. He is also a part-time broacast instructor at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Needham, Massachusetts.

WNKR's annual holiday festival of music. Hosted by our own Shad O'Shea, this program features a nostalgic look at Northern Kentucky's Christmas past, coupled with 36 hours of wonderful holiday music of all styles.
